Protect Yourself Online and Prevent Fraud  

 

1.  Never reply to emails that ask for personal information verification. Please report all spam emails like this to the appropriate authorities.
 If you receive an email from an unknown source, take precautions when opening. Remember most legitimate company’s will never contact you and ask you to verify personal information.

2.  Keep a close eye on your personal accounts. Credit bureau reports should be run annually for everyone to verify all information is correct and valid.

3.  In the event of identity theft; please follow the proper procedures to protect yourself and your credit. The three major credit bureaus are listed below, so please feel free to utilize this information in the event that you want to check your credit history.

Information about local adult education is available from:-

This information lists organizations which give advice and information about, or run, adult education courses. Many produce information leaflets or guides to courses which can be bought from the organization if they are not available in a local library.

Learndirect is a government scheme to encourage people to learn new skills and improve existing skills. It has centers throughout the UK, in for example, sports clubs, community centers and libraries. People can register for courses and be given training. Learndirect offers courses in basic computer skills and numeracy and literacy. The website contains details of many other courses, which are not administered through Learndirect. It also has details of all the learndirect centers in the UK. People who have difficulty with mobility can register with Learndirect through the website. Courses are available full or part time, both to those working and to those studying full time.

The Open and Distance Learning Quality Council (ODLQC) sets standards for distance learning and home study courses. Providers of these courses can register with the ODLQC if they meet the ODLQC's standards. The ODLQC regularly monitors providers of these courses to make sure they are providing a good service. They can give you a list and details of the colleges that they have assessed.
